The Center for Health Careers was conceived, developed and implemented in 1988 as a long-term strategic initiative designed to narrow the gap between hospitals' nursing and allied health workforce needs and available supply. Serving as a regional referral and information service to students, parents, and the educational community through a number of programs, the Center continues to enhance the public's perception and attitudes toward nursing and allied health professions.
The Centers' mission was, and continues to be, to promote and advance healthcare careers for our member hospitals and healthcare systems. Considering the present and projected future of western Pennsylvania's healthcare workforce, this mission has never been more significant.
